Microsoft has confirmed that the classic Outlook app is causing CPU usage spikes—up to 30–50%—when typing emails, along with increased power consumption. This issue appears to be a bug affecting users on the Current Channel, Monthly Enterprise Channel, and Insider channels, specifically those updated to Version 2406 Build 17726.20126 or later.

There’s no official fix yet, but users can work around the problem by switching to the Semi Annual Channel via the Office Deployment Tool or a Windows registry change. Microsoft is continuing to investigate, and ongoing discussions are available on their support forum.
